“I just want to spread sunshine.”

If you’ve ever sat down with Northern California native and Nashville based singer/songwriter, Claire Wright, you know she is more than likely to welcome you in with a cold beer and a big ‘ol smile. “I just want to spread sunshine,” she often claims as her artist mission statement. And with original songs infusing elements of country, reggae, and feel good singer/songwriter, she does just that.

Wright grew up traveling the U.S. with her family, watching her older brother race mountain bikes professionally. She can remember looking out the window for thousands and thousands of miles, listening to song after song. The way that those songs were able to enhance even the simplest of landscapes helped spark  her adoration for music. A lot of her initial influences include artists like Jack Johnson, The Dirty Heads, Colbie Caillat and more. Wright says that her sound as an artist started to mold from a very young age. She grew up on a cattle ranch in the foothills of The Sierras and would visit her grandmother and family in Santa Cruz, CA. She remembers being around five or six years old sitting on a balcony in Pleasure Point and hearing Bob Marley for the very first time. She was enamored, even at that young age, how positivity seeped through every note in Marley’s music and has carried that with her ever  since. She fell in love with how an entire lifestyle can be captured into one song. She found that same feeling later in life again at age 20, when she began to co-write with songwriters in Nashville. After a few year journey, moving to Southern California and finding herself in the So Cal music scene at 17th St Recording Studio, she began taking songwriting trips to Music City. It didn’t take long for her to know Nashville was her second home. Wright packed up and moved across the country to immerse herself in the songwriting community that quickly became family. Currently, Wright resides in Nashville, TN and spends her days writing songs and penning her story with some of the best co-writers in the industry. As she gears up to release her debut music with Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville, one can only imagine what is next for Claire.   Stay tuned!
